Ryan J. Cooper
As the founding partner, Ryan J. Cooper started Cooper, LLC to focus on achieving the results that matter for each client, recognizing that each client is different. Ryan draws upon a diverse experience obtained at a premier international and national law firm.
Ryan has counseled clients on strategic corporate transactions and successfully litigated matters in state and federal courts throughout the country. With a depth of experience that includes strategic business planning, high-stakes litigation, and insurance coverage counseling, Ryan has a unique combination of skill sets that rank him among his client’s most trusted advisors.
An honors graduate of Rutgers School of Law, Ryan began his career as law clerk to United States District Court Judge Renée Marie Bumb. Ryan has been certified as an Information Privacy Professional on US private sector law by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He writes and lectures frequently on technology, privacy, and information management issues, and serves as a volunteer member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Ethics Committee for Union County. He is a former member of the Cranford Board of Education and formerly served as a Trustee and Board Secretary for the ACLU-NJ.

- Silverman v. Miranda, 918 F. Supp. 2d 200 (S.D.N.Y. 2013): On behalf of ERISA multi-employer fund, successful motion for summary judgment for unpaid contributions.
- In re Adoption of N.J.A.C. 5:96 and 5:97, 215 N.J. 578 (2013): On behalf of professional planning associations as amicus curiae, brief in support of lower court decision rejecting Third Round Rules promulgated by New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing.
- DBA Distribution Services, Inc. v. All Source Freight Solutions, Inc., No. 11-cv-3901, 2012 WL 845929 at 4 (D.N.J. Mar. 13, 2012): On behalf of independent logistics agency, successful motion to dismiss with prejudice on an issue of first impression holding that exclusive agency agreement was breached by assignment of contract by operation of law in a reverse triangular merger.
- Ilarraza v. Medtronic, Inc., 677 F. Supp. 2d 582 (E.D.N.Y. 2009): On behalf of medical device manufacturer, successful motion to dismiss personal injury claims.
- Pruco Life Insurance Co. v. Wilmington Trust Co., 616 F. Supp. 2d 210 (D.R.I. 2009): On behalf of life insurer, successfully opposed motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction.

Renier P. Pierantoni
Renier P. Pierantoni is a veteran litigator, entrepreneur, and public service leader with more than 30 years of experience spanning insurance recovery, commercial litigation, regulatory and government affairs, alternative dispute resolution, and education leadership. He represents corporate, municipal, nonprofit, and energy-sector clients across New York, New Jersey, and federal courts, bringing the analytical rigor of a major firm with the accountability and responsiveness of a boutique practice.
At Cooper, LLC, Mr. Pierantoni focuses on first-party and third-party insurance recovery and broker malpractice litigation, employment matters, and complex commercial disputes. He has recovered millions of dollars for policyholder clients on business interruption, property damage, professional liability, toxic tort, and construction loss claims. He also serves as a neutral mediator in commercial, insurance, and HOA matters in New York and New Jersey courts.
Before joining Cooper, LLC, Mr. Pierantoni spent more than a decade at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he represented Fortune 100 clients in multi-district state and federal litigation, negotiated multi-million dollar insurance recoveries, and advised in-house counsel on long-tail liability portfolios and government-facing exposure. He subsequently served as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer at Natural Gas Solutions LLC, where he directed a national government affairs program, led the U.S. expansion of a South Korean alternative-fuels company, and authored and shepherded to unanimous enactment Kentucky House Bill 212 (KRS 186.750, signed April 4, 2013) — landmark legislation authorizing CNG vehicle conversion and extending state energy tax incentives to alternative fuel infrastructure, passed 93–0 in the House and unanimously in the Senate.
He currently serves as a Governor Kathy Hochul appointee to the New York State Judiciary Screening Committee and continues his work as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University Graduate School of Education.
Notable Accomplishments and Reported Decisions:
Sunoco, Inc. v. Illinois National Insurance Co. — Secured summary judgment establishing more than $50 million in defense and indemnity costs arising from third-party MTBE groundwater contamination matters.
In re Goulds Pumps, Inc. — Prosecuted insurance coverage actions in New York and Los Angeles against multiple historical insurers, resulting in judgments confirming access to millions in liability coverage for asbestos-related claims.
Mageba USA LLC v. Allied World Sur. Lines Ins. Co. — Achieved success on a first-party coverage claim under a professional liability policy arising from construction of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
AMCA Ventures, LLC v. Travelers Prop. Cas. Co. — Recovered first-party theft-related losses under a marine and cargo policy.
Strang v. JobProgress, LLC — Successfully defended against LAD discrimination, CEPA whistleblower, Pierce, and Wage & Hour claims.

He is happily married to his wife of twenty years, Lisa Campisi, a Partner at Blank Rome LLP, and adores his son, Christopher (a.k.a. “Krispy”), who owns and operates a coast-to-coast film and entertainment production company whose work has been featured in Vogue, SOYO, and Redbull magazines and received accolades in the film industry.

Thomas J. Slattery
Thomas J. Slattery has ten years of diverse experience as an advisor, counsel, and litigator who contributes to Cooper, LLC’s representation of municipalities and government entities.
Before joining Cooper, LLC, Tom was Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of Jersey City, where he advised the City Council, Mayor’s Office, and municipal agencies on developments in law and policy, drafted legislation, and oversaw several City boards. He reviewed legislative and regulatory changes in a diverse set of industries and subject areas, including land use, redevelopment, and construction, commerce, tenant relations, and cannabis.
Tom nurtured relationships with and between public officials, civic leaders, and community stakeholders, and frequently defended City actions and interests in state and federal courts. He has appeared on numerous panels and continuing legal education programs relating to municipal law and the rollout of New Jersey’s cannabis legalization.
A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Tom began his career extensively litigating employment and consumer protection matters and insurance coverage and defense disputes.
